Prabhas’ Big-Budget Movies: Salaar, Adipurush, Baahubali & More

Veteran actor Prabhas has set fire to the silver screen with his latest film, Salaar. The movie has been receiving positive reviews from the audience, with fans calling it the comeback film of the actor, as his previous few movies have been highly criticized. With time and his screen presence, it has become a well-known fact that Prabhas does big-budget movies.

On that note, here are a few of his films made on a whopping budget in the past few years, including Salaar, Adipurush, Radhe Shyam, Saaho, and the Baahubali film series.

Salaar

Prabhas’ most awaited film of 2023, Salaar, came out on December 22, 2023. Prashanth Neel, who is known for making the KGF film series, directed the movie, while Hombale Films produced it. Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu also played key roles in the film. Its plot revolves around two childhood friends who become the biggest enemies.

Set against the backdrop of the fictional kingdom of Khansaar, Salaar’s sets were massive. The creators allegedly made another film city in Ramoji Film City to shoot the movie. As per a report by Deccan Chronicle, the film has been made on a budget of approx $32.47 million.

Adipurush

Adipurush narrates the story of Lord Ram (Prabhas) and his quest to bring home his beloved wife, Goddess Sita, from Ravan’s Lanka. Kriti Sanon played Sita, while Saif Ali Khan portrayed the role of Ravan in the movie. Om Raut directed the film, while T-Series and Retrophiles produced it.

Despite an ensemble cast, the film was widely criticized for various reasons. Its VFX and dialogues were some of the many reasons why the film didn’t receive a positive reception. To date, Adipurush is one of the most expensive movies made in India. Its makers allegedly spent a whopping $88 million.

Radhe Shyam

Prabhas shared the screen space with Pooja Hegde in this romance thriller. The movie was released on March 11, 2022, and was set against the backdrop of Europe in the 70s. Radhe Shyam’s plot and how Prabhas’ Vikramaditya tries to battle his destiny to be with the love of his life did not impress the audience.

Moreover, many slammed the makers for spending a whopping amount on such a storyline. Radha Krishna Kumar helmed the project. UV Creations and T-Series Films produced it on a reported budget of $36 million to $42 million.

Saaho

Saaho was Prabhas’ one of the most awaited movies as the actor had come from a record-breaking film Baahubali 2. Shraddha Kapoor played the leading lady opposite the actor in this action thriller. While the film’s songs did well in the market, it failed to entertain the audience in the thriller genre. Despite that, Saaho minted good numbers at the box office. It was made on a whopping budget of $42 million.

Baahubali: The Beginning

Baahubali soon became a pan-India film after positive reviews poured in. The movie marked Prabhas’ second collaboration with SS Rajamouli after their 2005 film Chatrapathi. The actor also did not leave any stone unturned in making the film a massive success. He allegedly did not sign other projects and focused on the film series for years. Baahubali reportedly earned over $72.15 million at the box office against a budget of $21.64 million. As a result, the film became the highest-grossing Telugu film.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion

Prabhas’ Baahubali was undoubtedly a visual spectacle. The film broke many box office records as it reportedly made over $215 million. SS Rajamouli seemingly poured his heart into the film that narrated the story of Amrendra Baahubali. Filled with romance, action, and emotions, the movie received positive reviews both from critics and the audience. It was made on a budget of $30 million.

Prabhas has reportedly been working only on big-budget movies for the past few years. He received star status with the success of his movies, and he continues to maintain it.
