Charlie Chopra & the Mystery of Solang Valley ending: How does the show end?

In the final episode of the season, the police and Charlie Chopra connect the dots and realize that Colonel Barua had been Brigadier Rawat’s murderer all along. He was found dead at his home. A suicide note is also found on his computer as well to confirm the same. However, Charlie still felt restless about the result, so she continued to dig around.

At a celebratory get-together at the Nautiyal house, everyone gathers to praise Charlie for having cleared up Jimmy’s name. But, Charlie reveals that the killer was, in fact, killed by someone else too, and his suicide was staged. She reveals that Barua had reached Meherbaan’s place by skiing, whereas he had initially told everyone that he’d be walking to the place.

Did Barua Kill Brigadier Rawat?

Skiing helped him reach earlier than he would’ve. Barua then smashed Brigadier Rawat’s head with the Jimli honey bottle because he was threatening to take away the ski resort he’d previously gifted him. However, after getting into a relationship with Nicole, he changed his mind. This left Barua feeling hopeless again as he had found his life’s purpose in running the ski resort.

However, before all of this, Jimmy had returned to the place to collect the hotel keys he had forgotten. He had also spotted Barua through the peephole but mistook him for his uncle. Barua then hid his ski boots in the storage room upstairs, which Charlie found, but Barua took them away before she could come back to collect them.

Barua later stole one of the Brigadier’s pair of shoes, which were identical to everyone else. He proceeded to sit and wait till the help arrived for Brigadier Rawat. He then slid out from the back door and pretended as if he’d just arrived at the spot.

Is Janki the killer?

During their initial toast at the family house, Charlie Chopra purposely toasted in honor of the Brigadier’s name. While everyone referred to him as either ‘Rawat’ or ‘Brigadier’, only Janki called him ‘Meherbaan’, which was how Barua’s suicide note addressed the Brigadier. This made her catch on to Janki and how she was the only person who called him so. It was clear at the end that she had not only killed Barua but was also connected to Rawat’s murder.

Charlie even figured out that she’d been handing out fake medicines for Schizophrenia to Wilayat. The absence of proper medication resulted in her being manipulatively hypnotized on the night of the seance by Dr. Janki. The doctor had been pretending to counsel her, when instead she had just been trying to win control over her mind.

Charlie had kept the original recording of the seance and had noticed the additional whistle on tape. This whistle was not intended to be a part of the seance music orchestrated by Dr. Rai. She later discovered that such interventions were often used as triggers for hypnosis, which revealed Janki’s connection to it all.
