What is Y+ Security? Jawan Star Shah Rukh Khan Gets Security Cover After Receiving Death Threats

Shah Rukh Khan, popularly known as the King of Bollywood, has allegedly claimed to be receiving death threats following the enormous success of his latest movies Pathaan and Jawan. To ensure his safety, Khan reached out to the Maharashtra state government and requested an upgrade in his security to the Y+ category.

For those who don’t know, Y+ security is a special classification granted to individuals facing elevated security risks. It is a security protocol that involves deploying a dedicated security team to safeguard the individual in question. In Shah Rukh Khan’s case, this upgrade means having six personal security officers (PSOs) and five armed guards stationed at his residence, Mannat.

The Maharashtra State Intelligence Department (SID) issued an official communication on October 5, 2023. They informed all police commissioners, district police, and special protection units (SPUs) in the state to provide Y+ security with an escort scale to Khan.

The soaring success of Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release, Jawan, played a significant role in the heightened security concerns. Released worldwide on September 7, 2023, the movie made history by becoming the first Hindi film to cross Rs 1,100 crore at the global box office. In India alone, the film’s gross box office collection stands at Rs 733.37 crore, with an additional Rs 369.90 crore collected overseas.

Jawan is an emotionally charged movie that tells the story of a man determined to rectify the wrongs in society. Shah Rukh Khan delivers a stellar performance in dual roles, playing Vikram Rathore and his son, Azad. The movie also features Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, with special appearances by Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt.
