More amazing news from the perversely exciting house of Scream Factory!
After the announcement that they were prepping a new bells and whistles high-def edition of Eric Red’s underrated werewolf drama BAD MOON (read our exclusive interview with Red here), the company is getting cult film fans pulses popping again with word of a Blu-ray edition of Nathan (ATTACK OF THE 50FT WOMAN) Juran’s bizarre 1973 lycanthropic mystery THE BOY WHO CRIED WEREWOLF.
Mark July 26th as the drop date for this one.You can actually pre-order it now.
This is big news. Because, like Scream Factory’s release of the lurid 1971 gem BLOOD AND LACE last year, THE BOY WHO CRIED WEREWOLF has never legitimately been available on any home video format in North America. Those of us who love it, likely caught it on one of its myriad late night TV screenings.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Richie Bridgestones parents are getting a divorce, but thats the least of his problems at the moment. Richie is hoping his parents will reconsider and on a visit to his father s secluded cabin, he witnesses his dad being attacked by a werewolf. Much like the tale of the boy who cried wolf, no one in the town will believe Richies claims that his father will change into a werewolf at the next full moon.
THE BOY WHO CRIED WEREWOLF is real deal weird one. Double bill it with WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS for maximum awesome.
