Jordan Peele to direct the horror-thriller Get Out
Jordan Peele and QC Entertainment are teaming up with Blumhouse Productions for Get Out, a fresh take from Peele on the horror-thriller genre that he wrote and will direct. Blumhouse and QC Entertainment are producing.
“People know me for my work in comedy, but now Ill get to focus on my passion for writing and directing horror films,” said Peele. “Like comedy, horror has an ability to provoke thought and further the conversation on real social issues in a very powerful way. ‘Get Out’ takes on the task of exploring race in America, something that hasnt really been done within the genre since Night of the Living Dead 47 years ago. Its long overdue.”
Get Out is a horror-thriller centering on a young African-American man who visits his Caucasian girlfriends family estate.
Jason Blum and QC Entertainment principals Sean McKittrick (upcoming Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Bad Words, Jimi: All Is By My Side, Donnie Darko) and Edward H. Hamm Jr. (Bad Words, Hell Baby, Jimi: All Is By My Side) are producing. Blumhouses Couper Samuelson is executive producing alongside QCs Ray Mansfield and Shaun Redick.
Blumhouses recent films include M. Night Shyamalans The Visit, which opened to $25 million, Joel Edgertons critically-acclaimed directorial debut The Gift, which crossed $40 million domestically, and Insidious: Chapter 3, the highest-grossing horror movie of the year.
QC Entertainment is a recently formed partnership between McKittrick and Hamms Darko Entertainment and Movie Package Companys Shaun Redick and Ray Mansfield to finance and produce director driven films. Their goal is to support filmmakers with a unique voice and bring their distinctive brand to helping independent films reach a wider audience.
