Natalie Portman to star in 30s set Spiritualist Story, Planetarium

Black Swan star Natalie Portman is teaming with French director Rebecca Zlotowski and Lily Rose Depp (who you likely saw in Tusk) for ‘30s-set spiritualism story, Planetarium.

Variety reports Planetarium will star Portman and Depp as spiritualist sisters “who are believed to possess the supernatural ability to connect with ghosts. They cross paths with a visionary French producer while performing in Paris.” The trade adds the film will be informed by and tackle the current “extremism” in Europe, likely referring to anti-Semitism in France and religiously-motivated deaths across the continent.

Planetarium is co-written by Robin Campillo, who penned the original 2004 film, The Returned (aka Les Revenants, aka They Came Back) which was the basis for the acclaimed 2012 French series.
