First Image: Nicolas Cage & Scorched Spirit in Pay the Ghost

Uli Edel, the director of cult favorite Christiane F., as well as The Baader Meinhof Complex and Body of Evidence has teamed with Nicolas Cage for supernatural, Halloween-set horror film, Pay the Ghost. See the spooky first image of a scorched spirit confronting Cage here.

In Pay the Ghost, “almost a year after his young son suddenly disappeared from his side during a Halloween parade in New York City, Mike Cole (Nicolas Cage) is inexplicably haunted by terrifying visions of his son and begins to sense his presence in frightening ways.  Sparked to action, Mike reunites with his estranged wife Kristen (The Walking Dead’s Sarah Wayne Callies) and together they uncover a string of terrifying clues while desperately searching for their son. They soon discover that every Halloween a vicious and vengeful ghost surfaces to abduct children and if they don’t recover their son within a short window of time, he will be lost to the spirit world forever.”

If the ghastly figure above is the vengeful ghost, it’s a nicely physical, frightening design. Alongside festival favorite We Are Still Here, it seems we’ll be seeing some ghosts on screen more fiery than chilling this year.

No word on release for Pay the Ghost just yet. [Voltage]
