Body, a wicked little thriller starring V/H/S’ Helen Rogers and indie horror legend Larry Fessenden has been acquired by Oscillioscope for U.S. release later this year.
Bloody D reports the acquisition of Dan Berk & Robert Olsen’s film, which will next be seen at the upcoming Stanley Film Festival in Estes Park, CO. Body world premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival this past January. The film stars Rogers, Fessenden, Alexandra Turshen and Lauren Molina in tale of “loyalty between three young, female friends tested when a debaucherous evening of drinking turns into a nightmare after they accidentally commit murder.”
The synopsis expands: “An idyllic Christmas holiday turns deadly when best friends Holly, Cali, and Mel break into a local mansion they believe to be unoccupied. But they quickly realize they’re not alone in the house, and in a moment of panic become embroiled in a grisly murder. The three girls self-destruct as they try to figure out what to do with the dead body in the living room.”
About the acquisition, Oscilloscopes Dan Berger and David Laub said, Body is an absolutely wonderful discoveryan incredibly clever, resourceful thriller that crafts excitement, tension, and piquant black humor out of the most basic of setupsthree girls, a house, and a body at the foot of the stairs. Dan Berk and Robert Olsen are major new filmmaking talents, and we are thrilled to be bringing their debut feature out into the world.
Filmmakers Dan Berk and Robert Olsen said, “We’re honored and excited to have found a partner in Oscilloscope. Their brand and approach to distribution are really in line with how we always envisioned bringing our movie to audiences. They’re the perfect home for Body.”
The acclaimed distributor recently released caustic indie comedy Buzzard and last year’s incredible sci-fi film, Coherence. If you’re at Stanley, you can catch Body on Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd. For a full look at the fest’s killer lineup, head right here.
