Shannyn Sossamon (Catacombs) and James Ransone have been cast in Sinister 2, the sequel to the 2012 chiller that was directed by Scott Derrickson. The sequel is set to begin lensing soon in the Chicago area under the direction of Ciaron Foy and Ransone’s involvement should give you a hint as to where this installment is going.
If you recall, Ransone played the deputy in Sinister who helped Ethan Hawke’s character do research into the murder that plagued Hawke’s home and the history of violence that lead up to a family massacre.
Is Ransone’s character now greatly affected by the events of Sinister? Is Mr. Boogie now after him?
Sossamon will play the mother to twin 9-year-old sons who move into a home that is nothing but bad news.
Blumhouse Productions is once again spearheading the film which is due in theaters August 21, 2015.
Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill penned the script. Foy is best known for his genre effort Citadel, which I’ll continue to recommend here at Shock.
