Exorcist Anthology Blu-ray Collection on the Way

The Exorcist Blu-ray collectionWarner Bros. is getting in on the "collection craze" and intends to bring The Exorcist series to Blu-ray. This will include The ExorcistThe Exorcist: Director's CutExorcist II: The HereticThe Exorcist IIIExorcist IV: The Beginning and Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist. Special features haven't been revealed yet, however, we know it comes out on September 23rd. Below you'll find the official "sell" from WB.

This is a bit of a bummer because I was sort of holding on to hope that Scream Factory would somehow leverage the relationship it had made with Morgan Creek on the upcoming Nightbreed Blu-ray to work on bringing William Peter Blatty's cut of The Exorcist III to the public. I recall a time when I was reporting for another outlet – in my pre-Shock days – that Morgan Creek had a cut. It needed some love and clean-up, but something existed. Alas, WB seems to have sunk its claws deeper into the property.

Maybe there's a rights thing preventing something from happening? Maybe they just don't give a damn? I'm sure there's something political or legal behind it (there always is, isn't there?).

Here it is.The scream of the crop. The scariest and most fascinating collection of movies in modern horror. At the center of these ultimate clashes between darkness and light are intrepid souls who dare to look evil in the eye and unsheathe the weapons of faith. The struggle begins with the trend-setting The Exorcist (presented it its original theatrical version and extended director's cut). Exorcist II: The Heretic and The Exorcist III bring added perspectives, blood-curdling visuals and shocks to the harrowing tale. And the two prequel stories (by two different directors) of Dominion/The Beginning enrich the original by revealing the amazing genesis of the battle between Father Merrin and humanity’s most insidious foe.
