Earlier this week, we saw an international poster for Deliver Us from Evil hit the web. Today, Sony has revealed the U.S. one-sheet. It's weird, because I get the feeling they don't know what sort of image from the film they can sell this movie with. The poster we have now is a shot of Edgar Ramirez's priest…and a creepy set. I'm not saying any of this is a knock against the film at all. I'm very excited for this one. There's just some interesting choices being made with the key art and I'm wondering what they don't want to spoil.
This poster definitely plays on the "inspired by…" angle and that's great. I think that's going to work well to get people into seats.
Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn, Sean Harris and Joel McHale star in the supernatural thriller, which follows New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Bana), who is struggling with his own personal issues.
As he begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes, he joins forces with an unconventional priest (Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. The film is based upon the book, which details Sarchie's bone-chilling real-life cases.
Deliver Us From Evil hits theaters on July 2nd.
