Over at his website, he has uploaded a feature-length supercut that mixes footage from both films. For instance, you’ll see Janet Leigh in one shot, but in the next, you’ll get Anne Heche. And don’t worry, the Van Sant footage is in black and white so it’s not that jarring. Well, not as jarring as seeing this footage bleed together.
For the infamous shower sequence, Soderbergh gets crafty, overlapping the scenes for an interesting – dare I say hypnotic – effect. You’re seeing Janet Leigh’s screaming face, but seeing Vince Vaughn’s hand stabbing her.
This is the work of a madman. I would expect this from a film fan with editing skills and no time on his/her hands. But Soderbergh? Crazy…
