Imagine Entertainment’s Updates on Tale of the Body Thief, The Dark Tower Adaptations

Initially, the game plan was to create a film and concurrent television series.  Then that ambitious endeavor was scaled back to a single film with Russell Crowe attached to star.  Deadline reports, though, that Grazer “has just been approached by a Silicon Valley investor willing to finance Dark Tower as originally constructed, now it’s a matter of deciding what path to take.”

There have been so many ups and downs with this adaptation, take everything with a grain of salt until that green light has been given…by someone.

On the Anne Rice front, you may or may not remember that Imagine is developing an adaptation of “The Tale of the Body Thief” which finds the vampire Lestat (of Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned) swapping bodies with someone else.  Lee Patterson turned in a script that apparently everyone digs and Imagine is talking with Universal to do it.  The film will be seen as a way to “reboot” the Lestat character.

Kind of a weird way to reboot him considering he swaps bodies with someone else for most of the story.
