When you open the USB’s folder, there’s a file that directs you to a site with a video that does not work yet – I’m presuming I should check back on the 18th to see what this is all about.
Now, there’s some speculation as to what film is generating this viral campaign and we’re going to go out on a limb and guess it is Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake. The film doesn’t hit theaters until October 11, 2013, however. But it’s a FilmDistrict title, nonetheless. Another guess is the Jason Statham-starring Parker, opening January 25th, which would put this coverage outside of our usual wheelhouse. But if it is Oldboy…cool.

Oldboy follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captors motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.
