Chris Columbus’ 1492 production outfit is spearheading the effort with Submarine and New Comic Company. Columbus will also write and produce a segment of the four-part anthology.
Anthology horror films have not been popular in Hollywood. You can just look to the release debacle Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat had a few years ago as proof of that. While the film was embraced by genre audiences, it was completely dumped by its distributor, Warner Bros., after sitting on the shelf.
Columbus – who gave us films like Home Alone and two installments in the Harry Potter franchise – is also producing Adam Green’s upcoming film Killer Pizza.
