According to Variety, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Rocksteady are at work on a new video game that will focus on Batman and the Joker’s first meeting. And, because of the nature of the story, we’ll be seeing some other superheroes join the mix as well.
Although it will not be set in the ’50s, the game is said to take its cue from the Silver Age of comics which saw the formation of the Justice League.
The outlet reports that the game could hit in 2014 at the earliest.
Now, I’m curious to see how Rocksteady handles the environment for the next chapter since the previous two installments were contained on a certain level with Arkham Asylum being contained to the eponymous hospital’s building/grounds and Arkham City taking place in solely the walled off section of Gotham (above and below ground).
The new game could feasibly open the canvas up even wider – akin to something like Red Dead Redemption – and allow players to roam Gotham and beyond.
