A haunting psychological thriller, the film explores the little-known practice of live-in staging, where recently evicted families are recruited to live in unsold properties. Curnen plays Camila, a single mother who begins to entertain dangerous fantasies while staging a model home in an otherwise empty development. Baker is the weary realtor who grows increasingly suspicious – and alarmed – at Camilas behavior.
Cunningham, who drew inspiration for the screenplay from everyday life, hopes to capture the horror and irony inherent in the many ghost subdivisions that have sprung up throughout the Southwest. The raw material for a great film, he adds, is all around us.
Filming is slated for later this month.
Model Home is executive produced by John Frank and Douglas Britton, with co-producers Will Clevinger (Devil’s Carnival) and Jarod Einsohn.
