Mick Garris is moving from Bag of Bones – the Stephen King adaptation he directed last year – to the sci-fi thriller Invasion. According to Screen Daily, Little Studio Films and Magic City Pictures are partnering for the project which will be touted at the Cannes Film Festival.
The site says the story “is allegedly based on true events surrounding a reporters investigation into a possible UFO conspiracy in Washington DC. Casting is underway ahead of the start of production later this year.”
The film is sport a strong female lead and, according to a Little Studio Films rep, have a Mad Men meets Close Encounters of the Third Kind-like vibe.
