It appears there’s still life left in this “graveyard,” yet. Deadline is reporting that Disney has struck a deal to adapt Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book. You may recall that another company, the UK-based Framestore, acquired the adaptation rights back in 2009. Neil Jordan was attached to direct at the time.
The novel concerns the life of Nobody Owens, a boy raised by the dead in a cemetery. So, think The Jungle Book, except with a macabre slant in which this kid is raised by the ghosts of a murdered family.
Deadline does not have much more to add about the Disney deal other than the fact that the adaptation is a “priority” for the studio.
