Franchising World War Z? Paramount Hopes So…

Although I’m hearing reports that World War Z is becoming costly for Paramount, the studio is apparently keen on turning its adaptation of the Max Brooks novel into a trilogy.

The Los Angeles Times conducted an interview with star Brad Pitt and dropped this little nugget of info:

[Director Marc] Forster and Paramount Pictures each view “World War Z” as a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of, say, Damon’s Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”

The article adds that Pitt plays a United Nations investigator who races around the globe in search of an origin to the zombie outbreak.  But you already knew that.

The film opens on December 21.  Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Julia Levy-Boeken, Bryan Cranston, Danielle Kertesz, Matthew Fox and David Morse also star.
