A month or so back, I used Shock’s Twitter account to dish some rumblings that I’ve been hearing about Universal preparing Blu-ray releases of the studio’s classic monster titles. That buzz is being re-iterated this week, along with some big Blu-ray news about a Steve Spielberg favorite.
The site goes on to say “some” of the sequels will likely strike on that date, too, including a 3D Blu of Jaws 3D. I like the use of the word “some” as if there are so many sequels to choose from. It most likely means you probably won’t see Jaws: The Revenge on Blu.
And regarding those Universal monsters Blu-rays. Low sales for previously released DVDs of Frankenstein, Dracula, et al. are supposedly forcing Universal to consider releasing a slate of creature classics in a Blu-ray box set as opposed to single-disc releases. Take that as just speculation for now.
