Stephen King Responds to Dark Tower Collapse

He’s “not surprised”

Following yesterday’s unfortunate news about Universal passing on Ron Howard’s ambitious adaptation of “The Dark Tower,” Stephen King chimed in:

“I’m sorry Universal passed, but not really surprised,” he told EW. “As a rule, theyâ??ve been about smaller and less risky pix; maybe they feel it would be better to stick with those fast and furious racing boys. I bear them no ill will, and trust Ron Howard to get Roland and his friends before the camera somewhere else. Heâ??s very committed to the project.”

“The Dark Tower” would be told across a film trilogy and a television series. Universal – taking the similar stance it took with Guillermo del Toro At the Mountains of Madness – deemed it too big and costly.

So, they’ll just move forward with – as King said – another Fast and Furious flick.
