Bits ‘n Bloody Pieces is a quick look at stuff we might have missed, viral-related promotions or light newsy bites that are easy to digest.

• Roland Emmerich – the man who strives to destroy the world over and over in 2012, The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day – is doing what he does best again in Hell, a post-apocalyptic thriller in which the sun’s power has turned the Earth into a barren wasteland. The film follows those trying to survive. Emmerich produced the film and Tim Fehlbaum directed. Twitch landed a clip.

• Here’s a teaser for a new indie slasher flick called Idiot Gore.

Synopsis: Gus Pruitt is a survivor. In high school, he survived a brutal massacre & went on to write numerous books on the experience & star in a reality show. Years later, Gus has fallen from best selling author to out of work writer. His once popular show has now become a trainwreck. He hits rock bottom when his show is replaced by a new, popular reality show dealing with slashers.

When the new show has a bloody run in with someone from Gus’s past, the survivors seek Gus & his crew out for help. As both crews unite & discover a masked slasher hunting them down, it’s up to Gus Pruitt to save the day!

Blood & hilarity ensue when it’s revealed Gus may not be 100% honest about who he is!

Hmm, based on the poster below, I wonder…

• The Facebook page for One Way Trip 3D is showing off a new poster.

• Ving Rhames is back at it again with the zombie-killing. He starred in the Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead remakes, now he’s messing about in Asylum territory with the production Zombie Apocalypse. This “gem” will also feature Taryn Manning, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Gary Weeks, Johnny Pacer and Eddie Steeples

• TV Guide dished some Dexter season six dirt. Apparently the upcoming season will pick up a year after season five. “”We thought a clean start to this season would be to jump ahead a year, so he’s not getting over Lumen [Julia Stiles], and he’s not still in the throes of dealing with the Rita [Julie Benz] thing,” exec producer Sarah Colleton says. “We wanted to jump ahead a year and find that Dexter has gotten his groove back. He’s gotten over Rita and Lumen.”

• Check out Frank Darabont’s prop and poster collection. The video ties in to SyFy’s Hollywood Treasure series.

• Raven Banner Entertaiment has picked up Spores by Russian filmmaker Maksim Dyachuk. The film is said to be inspired by Gareth Edwards’ Monsters. Is it “too soon” for something like that? You decide. Trailer below.

A group of friends traveling through the countryside stumble upon an old, abandoned Soviet factory. The group decides to explore, and document what they find, but their curiosity brings them face-to-face with unimaginable danger. Alien spores have traveled to Earth within a meteorite, and are quickly multiplying and mutating once they hit the earth. Who among the group of threatened humans will fight? Who will survive? And what will the ultimate outcome of this terror be for the planet?
