TV: Could True Blood Season 5 Be the End for…?

Key player might call it quits

Showrunner Alan Ball spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his involvement in True Blood, and he sounds exhausted.

The man who brought Charlaine Harris’ novels to HBO says he’s negotiating season five, but in terms of his involvement beyond that, “I don’t know if I have any left in me after that. We’ll see,” Ball told the trade paper.

That doesn’t mean the end of True Blood, of course. There is a wealth of source material to explore, furthermore, a new showrunner could come aboard to carry the series along.

Ball adds, “I think if we did 13 seasons we’d have to address why vampires are aging. Maybe there would be a bad batch of Tru Blood. … With the supernatural thing you can always go place.”

Meanwhile, Michael Ausiello at TV Line says this about Bill Compton in the season four debut: “There’s a fairly momentous Bill-related development in Sunday’s season premiere that will reverberate throughout the season. Can’t really say more than that.”
