NECA + Evil Dead 2
Next to Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, Jason and Pinhead, Ash from the Evil Dead series is one of the most exploited horror icons in movie collectibles. And more often than not, I never really thought the companies that pumped out Ash toys got it right. Although Sideshow did a pretty stellar job with a statue a few years back. The problem is the licensing. Many companies are stuck with a certain likeness, which means fans are stuck with “medieval” Ash figures from Army of Darkness, and often they’re in the exact same poses.
NECA hopes to pull us out of the mediocrity with a line of Evil Dead 2 toys and the below image was released to tease their product. I don’t mind the sculpt so far. We’ll have to see what they do with the rest of the body…
