Sequel to Edwards flick underway
When we last spoke to Monsters director Gareth Edwards, he said there was the possibility of a sequel to his low budget creature feature.
Vertigo Films, a UK-based production outfit, announced Monsters 2 is indeed on the way with Edwards serving as an executive producer.
The company has hired Brent Bonacorso and Jesse Atlas to direct; no cast members have been locked at this time.
According to Screen Daily, “this story will continue by introducing a teacher living in a protected walled city, who has to go into the infected zone to find his long-lost brother, a former military man who is now a Col. Kurtz-esque figure.”
The producers promise more creatures this time around, which should appease those who complained there was little actual monster action in the first film starring Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able.
