Exclusive: Sara Paxton Talks Shark Night 3D

Lake sharks, locals and death!

The Last House on the Left and The Innkeepers star Sara Paxton leaps into 3D territory with David Ellis’ Shark Night 3D (opening September 2) in which she goes face-to-face with a few great white sharks that have made their way into a lake.

Wait-a-second…um, lake sharks?

“This actually happens!,” Paxton told Shock when we caught up to her today. “I went down to Louisiana and I was really confused, how in the hell do sharks end up in the lake? All of the locals say it happens quite a bit with Bull Sharks, and they find their way into salt water lakes. Which terrified me, because when we were shooting I was like ‘Why did that log just blink?'”

That makes a bit more sense. Especially if it is set in the south. It seemed, however, sharks were not the problem on set.

“We were in the boondocks, in the bayou,” she recounted, “and these three hillbillies wearing no pants and holding Jack Daniels came by on waverunners trying to sink our boat with millions of dollars of equipment on it.”

In the film, Paxton plays a girl named Sara. “It’s her lake house and a bunch of college kids head there. She’s got a dark past that unravels while the shenanigans are going on.”

Shenanigans like getting eaten by sharks? “Lots of people get eaten in really awesome ways,” she beams, teasing us with, “There are seven different actors and seven different ways to die.”

Paxton co-stars with Dustin Milligan, Katharine McPhee, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz, Joel David Moore, Donal Logue, Sinqua Walls and Chris Zylka. Start placing your bets now: Who will survive and what will be left of them?
