Who will don the cape and fingernails?
Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Oren Peli – the Paranormal Activity team behind the production outfit Haunted Pictures – have set their sights on a foreign property to adapt: Brazil’s Coffin Joe series.
The trio aim to re-invent the character Рalso known as the villainous Z̩ do Caix̣o Рfor American audiences. So, who do they have in mind to play the character on the big screen?
Rob Zombie will be making his feature acting debut as Coffin Joe, a man who wreaks havoc on those around him as he searches for the perfect female to carry his offspring – a “superior being” that will continue his bloodline.
Haunted Pictures is moving fast to find a director as they aim to shoot Coffin Joe before Zombie begins principal photography on Lords of Salem. Zombie doesn’t have time to naturally grow his finger nails out to match the character’s requirements, so prosthetics will be required. It is said Zombie will add a few “new” touches to the Coffin Joe look as well.
The Coffin Joe character was created by José Mojica Marins who most recently played the part in Embodiment of Evil.
