Directing the thriller for Lionsgate
Lionsgate announced the first three pictures to be developed under a new microbudget production initiative, which focuses on films with budgets under $2 million.
One of the three films to go into production is 6 Miranda Drive from director Greg Mclean. The Australian filmmaker previously helmed Wolf Creek and Rogue.
Based on true events, the movie is about a family that unwittingly brings a supernatural force home with them from vacation. Feeding off their own fears, the evil presence threatens to destroy them from within as it takes over their lives and home, with terrifying results.
Mosaic is producing along with Mclean. It appears this film will come before Mclean’s proposed Wolf Creek 2.
Lionsgate’s push to aim for lower budgeted fare is obviously a reflection of the belt-tightening that’s going on around Hollywood, furthermore, how everyone is trying to tap Paranormal Activity‘s formula.
