The theme park ride that never was
Ahmet Zappa is being tapped by Disney to write The Museum of the Weird for Disney.
The idea stems from a Disney theme park ride from the ’60s that never came to fruition (yes, this is how far we’re now reaching for ideas).
The Times says, it featured “a parade of ghostly organists, magic carts, talking chairs and other surreal exhibits. Walt Disney wanted to use the museum as an adjunct to the Haunted Mansion, complete with its own restaurant. But the museum was never built, though some of the more ambitious pieces were incorporated into the mansion itself.”
If the project flies and is a hit, a ride could potentially follow. The Times stresses this project is still just a baby, so it might be a while before we see the film.
