With the FX work of WETA
Paul Campion has begun work on his first feature film.
You may have seen his impressive short films Eel Girl and Night of the Hell Hamsters on the film festival circuit.
He’s presently in New Zealand tackling The Devil’s Rock, based on a script he penned with Paul Finch and Brett Ihaka. WETA is on board to handle the FX work. Campion is utilizing Island Bay Studios where the production team has built a massive underground bunker set.
Set against the backdrop of World War II, the film follows two New Zealand commandos who uncover a Nazi plot to use demonic forces to win the war. Okay, so on the surface the plot is nothing groundbreaking as some war/horror films have covered this territory before. But with Campion at the helm, we might get something refreshing.
