The reportedly cursed Long Island home at the center of The Amityville Horror is up for sale.
According to the Associated Press, it hit the market on Monday and is going for a cool $1.15 million. The facade of this five-bedroom Dutch Colonial home – as many Amityville fans know – has been slightly altered so it doesn’t resembled the house that forced the Lutz family out after a brief stay in the late ’70s.
In 1975 six members of the DeFeo family were shot and killed as they slept in the home. Eldest son Ronald DeFeo Jr. was convicted of the murders.
Both the Lutz story and the DeFeo story served as the basis for The Amityville Horror and Amityville II: The Possession, respectively, although in the latter, the family was known as “Montelli” and not DeFeo.
