Video game rights sold for the screen
No, not Hard Rain with Christian Slater. We’re talking about Heavy Rain, the Playstation 3 game that hit stores in February.
Deadline reports the screen rights were up for grabs and former New Line Cinema big dog Bob Shaye was the top contender for picking them up. Since departing New Line, Shaye is now running Unique Features with Michael Lynne.
Heavy Rain is a film noir-esque mystery surrounding the Origami Killer, a maniac who drowns his victims during extended periods of rain fall. The story surrounds four characters, including a father trying to keep his son out of the killer’s clutches.
Quantic Dream developed the game.
