Monsterverse is publishing a horror anthology comic book series this year featuring the most sinister of horror icons, Bela Lugosi. Called “Tales from the Grave” (apropos) this one comes to us from editor-creator Kerry Gammill (“Famous Monster Movie Art of Basil Gogos”) who aims to have the first issue on shelf this September.
Basil Gogos provided the art for issue number one. You can check that out below along with a promo poster that made its debut at Monsterpalooza in Burbank, California over the weekend. The Gogos art was commissioned by Rob Zombie and published only in the Gogos art book by Gammill and was never used before as a cover.
“Tales from the Grave” features contributors John Cassaday, Steve Niles, Bruce Timm, John Landis, Rick Baker, Joe Dante and more… Good stuff. And significant in that the Lugosi estate appears to have given Gammill and company the thumbs up on using ol’ Bela’s image!
