Saw VI Helmer Directing Paranormal Activity 2

Goes up against Saw VII October 22nd

Wow. Didn’t see this one coming.

Paramount has hired screenwriter Michael R. Perry and director Kevin Greutert to helm Paranormal Activity 2 according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog.

Ironically, Greutert made his directorial debut with Saw VI, which underperformed at the box office due to head to head competition with Oren Peli’s Paranormal Activity.

Not only that, but Paramount will unleash it in theaters on the pre-Halloween weekend of October 22, up against Saw VII 3D.

Jason Blum and Oren Peli, who masterminded the first Paranormal Activity are producing the second iteration. Steven Schneider will serve as executive producer.

“These guys get it, and the fans won’t be disappointed,” said Peli of Perry and Greutert’s participation.

Plot details (as well as the official title) for the sequel are currently being kept under wraps. More when we hear it.
