Hollywood Supernatural Matchmaking Continues

WB acquires Beautiful Creatures

This will end soon enough, we tell ourselves. Studios and networks will eventually quit trying to ride on the heels of “Twilight” and get back to making supernatural beasties scary again.

Sometime soon. I hope.

For now we have to endure announcements like this.

Warner Bros. has acquired the screen rights to the five-part young adult series “Beautiful Creatures” by authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

Story follows a young man who falls for a witch. Their love has to overcome a curse and…well, you get the picture.

Richard LaGravanese, who penned The Fisher King, The Ref and recently directed P.S. I Love You,/b>, is adapting the novels and will direct.
