Is McDowell Returning for Halloween 2?

Loomis might be MIA in follow-up

That’s the big question. Early on we were hearing rumblings that Malcolm McDowell might not reprise his role at Dr. Sam Loomis in Halloween 2. Makes sense, right? He was left for dead in Rob Zombie’s remake. Then there was always the possibility he could return to the follow-up for flashbacks.

What’s the latest? Well, one of AICN’s contributors reported in following McDowell’s appearance at a SAG event last night. Read on:

“Regarding “H2”: When the host of the event told McDowell he thought he did an amazing job of stepping into the role of Loomis and that he couldn’t picture anyone else taking up the role besides him after the performance he gave in the first film, McDowell thanked him and told him “maybe you ought to tell that to the Weinsteins! We’re in the middle of negotiating right now!” He then riffed on the notorious hard-bargaining of the Weinstein Brothers.”

The actor told the audience he had not even received a script, so plot details remain unknown. However, one source tells ShockTillYouDrop.com a screenplay dated early January did not even have Loomis in the story.

All speculation, of course. Nothing is confirmed until, well, Zombie makes another announcement on his MySpace blog.
