Showtime Calls Up Vertigo’s Exterminators

Dexter exec producer

On the cover of Vertigo’s first graphic novel for The Exterminators, there’s a blurb from The Washington Post that reads: “Vertigo is the HBO of the comic book world and proves this more than ever with The Exterminators .”

Maybe not HBO…but how about Showtime? Vertigo’s property, created by Simon Oliver and Tony Moore, is being developed for the network as a series overseen by Dexter executive producer Sara Colleton. Collected, to date, into four graphic novels (23 issues), Exterminators concerns Henry James, the Los Angeles-based pest control company he works for and the highly lethal critters they often encounter.

For Showtime, the series will skew towards the dramatic focusing on “an extended dysfunctional family of exterminators whose greatest enemies aren’t the insects and rodents they meet and kill on a daily basis but rather their own self doubts, vices and inner demons.”

There still may be some room for the bizarro bugs, fingers crossed.
