Variety is reporting Red, Trygve Diesen and Lucky McKee’s adaptation of the Jack Ketchum novel, has been picked up by Magnolia Pictures for distribution. The film made its debut at Sundance in January and stars Brian Cox as an older gent seeking retribution for the death of his dog. Genre fans may want to take note: The material is much more drama than horror, a departure from other Ketchum material such as Off Season. Kyle Gallner, Tom Sizemore, Kim Dickens, Shiloh Fernandez, Robert Englund and Amanda Plummer co-star.
Magnolia plans exclusive HDNet Ultra VOD airings, with a late summer theatrical rollout to follow.
