Wolfman Duties Go to Johnston

Universal finds replacement director

Universal made quick work of mopping up the mess director Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) left behind when he bailed on The Wolfman last week.

Variety reports Joe Johnston has been tapped to helm the $100 million horror remake; this after days of web speculation surrounding possible replacement directors like John Landis, Brett Ratner and Frank Darabont. Johnston will be taking the reins on Andrew Kevin Walker’s script which is a starring vehicle for Benicio Del Toro.

Johnston directed competent summer movie fare like The Rocketeer, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Jurassic Park III.
