Meet a piece of BPRD agent Johann
One of the more quirky, visually arresting characters of the “Hellboy” universe is Johann, the life essence of a BPRD agent housed within a body suit. Ectoplasmic gas, to get right down to it. Johann can walk, talk, and when called upon, release himself from his suit to float freely. When writer-director Guillermo Del Toro set about making Hellboy II: The Golden Army, there was speculation revolving around whether he could pull the Johann character off. Well, duh. Sure he can!
