Gorman’s Poker Club Now Shooting

Schaech and Messner lead the cast

Filming has begun on The Poker Club, an adaptation of Ed Gorman’s 1999 novel and an ensemble piece starring Johnathan Schaech (“Masters of Horror: The Washingtonians”), Johnny Messner (“Believers”), Loren Dean (TV’s “Bones”), Judy Reyes (“Scrubs”), Michael Risley and Lori Heuring (“Wicked Little Things”). It centers on four friends, who kill a home intruder one night during their poker club. They dispose of the body in a nearby river unaware the deceased has a pal who has been watching their every move and is now out for vengeance.

Tim McCann directs; he previously helmed the “I want my nuts back” 2005 thriller “Nowhere Man” – a film about a dude who’s out to retrieve his bits and pieces after his girlfriend cuts them off.

Schaech penned the screenplay for “Club” with partner Richard Chizmar of Cemetery Dance Publications. You may remember our report on this writing duo here and here. As you can see, they’ve got a few profile projects in the oven over at their Chesapeake Films banner.

Lensing is taking place in New Jersey. Matt Richards of Ram Films is producing with Schaech, Chizmar, McCann and Bruce Devan (“Kingdom of Heaven”).
