On General Hospital’s February 12 episode, Maxie Jones woke up from a coma that lasted nearly a year. But before she fell into a comatose state, her then-husband, Nathan West, had died, and she was in a relationship with Damian Spinelli. To her shock, Nathan had returned from the dead by the time she regained her consciousness, forcing her to choose between her ex-husband and current partner.

Given the nature of soap operas, some fans expected the show to drag out the storyline. However, in a surprising and welcome twist, Maxie made a clear decision to spend her life with Spinelli on the February 23 episode. Although she told Nathan she would always love him, she returned home to Spinelli and revealed her decision. Spinelli, who was worried sick about losing her, was overcome with joy, and the two shared a kiss.
