Is My Hero Academia over, or will there be a Season 9?
My Hero Academia Season 9 is neither renewed nor canceled because the anime wrapped up the story with eight seasons.
While it was a stunning portrayal of Kōhei Horikoshi’s manga series of the same name, the series ended with Season 8, which covered the Final War Arc from the manga. The show premiered in 2018, and the finale, titled “My Hero Academia,” aired on December 13, 2025. Over its eight seasons, the show has a total of 181 episodes, all of which are now available to stream on popular sites like Crunchyroll.
The finale opened with a young boy who showcases an uncontrollable Quirk due to severe abuse at his house. After escaping, he wanders the streets, filled with envy as he watches others live happily while he suffers. Just as he’s on the verge of lashing out, an elderly woman offers him help.
The show then jumps eight years after the final battle, where the world is at peace. Izuku “Deku” Midoriya is now a teacher at U.A. High and Quirkless after losing his powers during the last battle. In a nearby junior high, a student named Dai struggles with his desire to be a hero. During an encounter with Izuku, he expresses his fears of never being able to become a hero. However, Izuku reassures him, pointing out that his willingness to help is enough to become a hero.
Later, All Might visits Izuku with an armor that he created using the data from Izuku’s fights and with some assistance from Hatsume and Bakugo. The armor will allow Izuku to once again enter into battles alongside his allies. He accepts it with tears down his face, and meets others in the city. He suits up and embarks on his next adventure.
