Chicago Med Season 11 Reveals Bert’s Fate After Major Twist

Chicago Med Season 11 has left viewers emotional after its latest episode revealed what happened to Sharon Goodwin’s ex-husband, Bert. Following a shocking twist in the previous episode, the new episode finally addresses what happened after his sudden fall at the assisted living facility. The episode also explores the impact of Bert’s health on Sharon and her family.

Here are more details.

What happened to Bert in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6?

Episode 6 of Chicago Med season 11, titled “The Story of Us,” delivers one of the most emotional storylines of the season as Sharon Goodwin is faced with the decline of her ex-husband, Bert. The episode begins with a flashback to 1995, showing the Goodwin family sharing a meal in happier times. It then shifts to the present day, where Goodwin sits by Bert’s bedside after his severe fall in the previous episode.

Bert’s condition has worsened due to complications from Alzheimer’s. Doctors reveal that his CT scan shows a brain bleed that is expected to deteriorate further. Since Bert had signed an advanced directive refusing surgical intervention, the family is forced to confront the difficult reality. Sharon’s  children: Michael, Tara, and David, join her at the hospital, where tension quickly arises. David questions the decision to respect his father’s wishes, despite being largely absent during Bert’s decline.

The situation becomes more complex when David reveals that Bert is not his biological father. Sharon confirms the truth, explaining that she was already pregnant when she met Bert. Despite that, Bert accepted and raised David as his own son.

In the final moments, Sharon helps David let go of his guilt and urges him to be with Bert while he still can. Surrounded by his loved ones, Bert lies unconscious as the family says their goodbyes. Though his death occurs off-screen, the episode serves as a farewell to the character.
