One Chicago: Med, Fire & P.D. Set NBC Release Dates for New Seasons’ Fall Return

NBC just locked in when Chicago MedChicago Fire and Chicago P.D. will return to your screens this fall. The network confirmed premiere dates and time slots for all three One Chicago dramas’ upcoming seasons.

Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. remain on NBC’s Wednesday lineup

NBC revealed its fall 2026 premiere dates this week, confirming the One Chicago franchise’s return. Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. will all debut on Wednesday, October 7.

As expected, the three dramas retain their long-standing Wednesday night time slots on the network. Chicago Med launches the primetime block from 8 to 9 p.m., Chicago Fire picks up right after in the 9 to 10 p.m. hour, and Chicago P.D. then closes the evening from 10 to 11 p.m.

Notably, the network first outlined this Wednesday night structure during its May upfront presentation. NBC’s newly released fall schedule closely follows that earlier announcement without significant changes. As a result, the One Chicago trio remains central to the network’s midweek primetime strategy.

Meanwhile, NBC’s broader fall season kicks off in September with football and unscripted programming. The NFL Kickoff Game airs on Wednesday, September 9, before Sunday Night Football begins. Additionally, The Voice and America’s Got Talent dominate the network’s September schedule ahead of October.

Subsequently, the three Chicago dramas arrive after this initial wave of unscripted content wraps up. October 7 marks the official start of NBC’s scripted Wednesday night programming block. Furthermore, all three shows return to the same time slots they occupied during the previous season.

Overall, the One Chicago franchise has anchored NBC’s Wednesday lineup for several consecutive years now. Each series continues to deliver consistent ratings for the network across all three hours. Ultimately, NBC’s decision to maintain the Wednesday block reflects the franchise’s ongoing value to its primetime schedule.
