The October 27 episode of The Voice Season 28 marked the beginning of the knockout rounds, moving ahead from the battle rounds. However, this season will see the addition of a brand-new buzzer called the “Mic Drop” buzzer.

What is the ‘Mic Drop’ buzzer in The Voice Season 28?
Season 28 of the Voice includes a new Mic Drop buzzer in the knockout rounds. The judges have the opportunity to press the Mic Drop buzzer for their team’s favorite performance. One Mic Drop performance from each team will then face a public vote, selecting the best of the four contestants chosen. The winner of this vote will then get to perform at the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day.
Whether or not the winner makes it to the end of the competition won’t matter; they still get their performance regardless. The coaches, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé, will each have one Mic Drop buzzer during the knockout rounds. This new addition to the show replaces the older “Save or Steal” concept during this phase of the show.
The knockout rounds will see the coaches pairing up their remaining eight contestants to go against each other in head-to-head performances. They will then have the opportunity to choose the winner of each knockout round and also pick one mic drop performance. As advisors, guest coaches will arrive to assist the teams and mentor the contestants during the knockout rounds. Team Snoop and Buble will see singer-songwriter Zac Brown as an advisor. Meanwhile, Team Reba and Team Niall will have Eagles band member Joe Walsh.
The Mic Drop buzzer seems like an interesting new addition to the show, offering an excellent opportunity for one of the contestants to earn a well deserved chance at launching their career on a big stage.
