In a recent conversation with Soap Opera Digest, Courtney Hope discussed the reason behind Sally’s decision to stick with Billy. “Well, for a lot of reasons, I think,” she said. “First of all, she really cares about Billy,” Hope explained, noting that Sally has grown to care deeply for Billy and his fight for what he believes in. “Sally sees herself in that.”
Billy left Sally to run Abbott Communications on her own after convincing her to work with him. Later, he also convinced her to give him a second chance when she tried to break up with him.
However, Hope defended Sally’s decision to stay by explaining how it relates to her past. She described how Sally had a really rough childhood and always wanted the family and relationship she never had. The actress also shared that she believes it all leads to Sally fighting to save the people around her.
Further, the 36-year-old added, “When she was younger, she would lose them. I think it makes her even more of a fighter to want to save the people that she’s with. It’s just doubling down on really caring about someone, but also not wanting him to go off the rails.”
Courtney Hope then continued to focus on the good times Sally and Billy have had together, despite their differences. “She sees the best in people,” Hope shared. “And she feels like she has some stake in the outcome if she can really invest herself into the relationship and possibly help and/or save them. So that’s a huge reason.”
