NCIS: Tony & Ziva wrapped up its first season with a heartfelt tribute to Curtis Krick. Viewers who noticed the tribute are wondering who Krick is and how he is connected to the show. While he hasn’t worked on the series specifically, he is connected to the show’s creator, John McNamara.
Here are the details on who Curtis Krick was.
Who was Curtis Krick, and why did NCIS: Tony & Ziva’s Season 1 finale honor him?
John McNamara paid tribute to Curtis Krick in the NCIS: Tony & Ziva finale, “Full Circle,” following Krick’s death earlier this year. At the end of the episode, the tribute read, “In memory of Curtis Krick.”
According to the GoFundMe page, Krick was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer. Though complete details about his death have been kept private.
Krick may not have worked on Tony & Ziva, but he has collaborated with John McNamara before on The Magicians. The tribute makes it clear that the two have bonded during the making of the show.
Additionally, McNamara shared The Magicians’ credits with Sera Gamble, who had also expressed grief for the loss of her friend on Instagram in April 2025. She uploaded still images from the shows they collaborated with The Magicians and You, along with an emotional message.
The caption read, “Curtis Krick was our VFX supervisor on #TheMagicians. Asking him to also come work on #YouNetflix was a no-brainer. He was fabulous. Patient, funny, smart, took his work very seriously. He quoted Shakespeare while discussing werewolves. His ideas fixed problems and elevated scenes and kept potentially extremely cheesy things from looking cheesy and allowed us to execute tricky ideas (flying ships, twin fever-dream Joe Goldbergs) elegantly.
I’m so grateful for all his beautiful work. My heart goes out to his loved ones as they feel his loss.”
The Magicians was a popular teen fantasy drama that ran for five seasons. Krick worked as the VFX supervisor for Seasons 2, 3, and 4. Outside of the show, Krick also worked on major franchises such as Fast X, The Flash, Supergirl, Believe, and The Fringe.
