Even after Season 4’s release, there is no update from BritBox about whether the show will return for Season 5. The creator of the show, Jude Tindall, passed away shortly after Season 4 began filming. Hence, taking that into consideration, nothing can be said about renewal until an official confirmation is out.
Season 4 of the Father Brown spin-off series is already out on BritBox US. It started airing on U&Drama in the U.K. on Friday, September 26. The new episodes will see Lorna Watson return in her role as Sister Boniface, taking on crime-fighting with a comedic twist. Cast members, including Max Brown, Ami Metcalf, Jerry Iwu, and Belinda Lang, will be returning to the show playing their respective characters.
While talking about the events of Season 4 with RadioTimes.com, Sam Gillespie actor Max Brown said, “There’s quite a few ups and downs. Actually, we have threats of losing the whole set-up with the force and our investigation team.” He further added, “There’s all of those lovely moments to play through. And yeah, really complex cases this year, lots of brilliant and kind of funny moments as Sister Boniface’s mind wanders off and explores the unexplorable for most people.”
When talking about the latest installment, Lorna Watson said, “Tensions are high… I think the residents of Great Slaughter are brought together, and you really feel that sense of unity, togetherness and camaraderie. I would say it’s quite big this series.”
